The Aztecs had many beliefs. They believed the sun god (the sun) fought battles every night and rose each day. They believed the earth was flat. They believed that if they fed the sun god blood, it would rise. If they didnt it wouldnt ever again.

The Aztecs respected their gods very much. They put their greatest efforts into making strong, beautiful temples to please their gods. Their arts had a part in their religion. They drew pictures that told about their gods. They recorded religious events with hieroglyphics. They worshipped the sun god the most. The aztec sacrificed hundereds a day to appease their sun god. Religion played a great part in Aztec life.

Aztec sacrifice took place on top of the Great Temple. It was a pyramid shaped temple with two shrines on top. One dedicated to the Sun god and one to the Rain god. The Aztecs forced the tirbes they conqured to pay tribute in warriors for sacrifice. This made them very angry. See how they fell for more on this information.

Below is a picture of the Great Temple. Also a closer picture of the temple.

The blood on the left picture were from the dead sacrificed bodied being thrown off of the Temple. Falling dead bodies...how pleasant.
